The Diablos Rojos del México have done it again. For the fourth consecutive season, they own the best record in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol — finishing the 2026 regular season at 59-28, riding a 14-game winning streak (the second-longest in franchise history), and capturing their seventh straight South Zone division title, a franchise record. Now they’re chasing something no team has done in more than 100 years of LMB history: three championships in a row.
Four Years, Nobody Better
Since 2023, no team in Mexican baseball has finished the regular season with a better record than the Diablos. The 2025 campaign tells you everything about how dominant this franchise has become: they went 63-25 in the regular season, then went 16-0 in the playoffs — sweeping the Leones de Yucatán (4-0), the Pericos de Puebla (4-0), and the Charros de Jalisco in the Serie del Rey (4-0), with a 4-2 series win over the Piratas de Campeche in between. The result was their 18th championship in franchise history, more titles than any other team in Mexican professional sports.
In 2026, the script barely changed. The Diablos were the first team to clinch a playoff spot — doing so on July 22 with a 54-26 record (.675) and a 7.5-game lead over the Olmecas de Tabasco in the South Zone. They closed the year as the overall leader in both zones. It marks their ninth postseason appearance in ten years, a level of institutional consistency that no other franchise in modern Mexican baseball can match.
The Roster Built for a Three-Peat
The 2026 Diablos have real firepower to back up those expectations:
- Julián Ornelas made history on July 29, becoming the first Mexican-born hitter in franchise history to reach the 20-20 club in a single season — a combination of power and speed that defines what this team is about.
- Robinson Canó, named MVP of the 2026 LMB All-Star Game at Walmart Park in Monterrey, continues to provide veteran presence in the infield.
- José Marmolejos, the 2025 Serie del Rey MVP — he hit 10-for-15 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI in the championship series against the Charros — is hungry for more.
The Diablos are also the only franchise in LMB history to sweep their opponent in back-to-back Serie del Rey appearances (the Sultanes in 2024, the Charros in 2025). A three-peat would be a chapter of its own in the league’s history.
