Venezuela's Biggest Rivalry Is Coming to Miami: Tiburones vs. Magallanes at loanDepot Park
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Venezuelan baseball is crossing the Caribbean. Tiburones de La Guaira and Navegantes del Magallanes will meet on November 14 and 15 at loanDepot Park in Miami for an officially confirmed LVBP exhibition series — and it’s a first: never before have these two clubs, the most decorated and most fiercely rival franchises in Venezuelan league history, played each other on American soil.

The Oldest Rivalry in Venezuelan Baseball, Now in Miami

Tiburones and Magallanes don’t need an introduction to anyone who follows Venezuelan baseball. Together they account for the majority of LVBP championships and decades of a rivalry that literally divides families. The fact that this matchup is now landing at loanDepot Park — the same stadium where the Miami Marlins play, with a capacity of more than 36,000 fans — says a lot about where Venezuelan baseball is headed beyond its borders.

Miami is home to one of the largest Venezuelan communities in the United States, which makes it the natural market for an event like this. Both organizations have real room to make it something big.

November: The Right Time for Caribbean Baseball

The November 14–15 dates land right at the start of the 2026–27 LVBP season, so the exhibition doubles as both an appetizer and an international showcase — two things the league has been chasing for years.

Caribbean teams playing on U.S. soil in November isn’t completely unheard of, but it is unusual for the LVBP specifically. Two games at a Major League ballpark, headlined by the most recognizable rivalry in Venezuelan baseball, is exactly the kind of move that could help the league build a permanent footprint outside Venezuela.

  • Dates: November 14 and 15
  • Venue: loanDepot Park, Miami, Florida
  • Teams: Tiburones de La Guaira vs. Navegantes del Magallanes
  • Tickets and logistics: Not yet announced — follow both clubs’ official channels for updates

Why This Matters Beyond the Scoreboard

An exhibition series doesn’t move the standings or add a ring. What it does do is put the LVBP in front of an audience that’s been following it from afar — mostly through streaming — and gives Venezuelan fans in Miami the chance to watch their Tiburones or their Magallanes live, inside a big-league park. That’s a meaningful thing.

Caribbean baseball has spent years trying to grow its audience outside the region. The Caribbean Series expanding to international venues was one step. This Miami exhibition is another — smaller, yes, but concrete: it has a date, a venue, and the two names that can sell out any stadium in Venezuela.
