A Note on MLB.TV
MLB.TV remains an out-of-market product. Twenty-two of 30 clubs also offer a separate local in-market subscription inside the MLB app (roughly $19.99/month or $99.99/season) that is blackout-free. Games exclusive to national partners — Netflix, NBC/Peacock, Apple TV, FOX, ESPN — are not included in MLB.TV; that’s not a blackout, they simply aren’t part of the package. No public blackout map exists for Latin American countries, so availability may vary.
Series Standings
- Cleveland Guardians: 1-2 (.333) — must win to extend the series
- Chicago White Sox: 2-1 (.667) — one win from advancing
Starting Pitchers
- Cleveland — Parker Messick (LHP): 12-9, 2.56 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 193 strikeouts in 186.1 innings
- Chicago — Hagen Smith (LHP): 3-3, 1.29 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 41 strikeouts in 28.0 innings
Keys to the Game
This is a must-win for Cleveland. The Guardians are one loss away from elimination, and the pressure falls squarely on Parker Messick, who had a strong regular season — 193 strikeouts, 2.56 ERA — but faces a White Sox lineup riding the momentum of a series lead.
The pitching edge belongs to Chicago. Hagen Smith’s 1.29 ERA and 0.96 WHIP are exceptional numbers at any point in the season, let alone a winner-take-series situation. Smith hasn’t given opposing offenses much to work with, and a White Sox team that controls the series at home will look to him to finish the job.
