A ninth-inning single. That’s all it took. On Wednesday, September 9, Jesús Made punched a single to right in Pensacola and drove in his 90th run of the season — a new all-time franchise record for the Biloxi Shuckers, breaking the 89 RBI Jackson Chourio posted in 2023. Made did it in 121 games. Chourio needed 123.
Biloxi won that night 9-2 over the Blue Wahoos. Made went 2-for-5 with a triple in the seventh, but the hit that rewrote the record book was that quiet single in the ninth. RBI No. 90. New record.
How Big Is This, Really?
To put it in context: before Chourio, the Shuckers’ franchise RBI record belonged to Corey Ray, who hit 74 in 2018. Chourio shattered it in 2023. Made just did the same thing — and with four regular-season games still to play, he has room to push it further.
Zoom out to the full Brewers system and the number gets even more meaningful. The last Milwaukee Double-A player to top 90 RBI in a season was Hunter Morris, who drove in 113 back in 2012. Made is just the fifth player in the 21st century to reach that mark in the organization.
Made vs. Chourio: Same Path, Different Profiles
The comparison is unavoidable — Milwaukee essentially built the blueprint twice. Here’s how the two Double-A seasons stack up:
- Jackson Chourio, Double-A 2023: .280/.336/.467, .803 OPS, 22 home runs, 89 RBI, 43 stolen bases in 122 games
- Jesús Made, Double-A 2026: .270/.345/.430, .775 OPS, 14 home runs, 90 RBI, 36 stolen bases in ~121 games
The lines aren’t identical. Chourio had more raw power. Made has the better OBP (.345 vs. .336) and got to 90 RBI two games sooner. Different signatures, same result at the plate.
What really separates Made in projection conversations is the raw tool set: a switch-hitter with plus bat speed from both sides and a 90th-percentile exit velocity of 105.2 mph — above the MLB average. That’s not something you develop. You either have it or you don’t.
Made also leads the Southern League in runs scored (87) and ranks second in hits (132) through September 10, which means his impact goes well beyond just driving in runs.
What’s Next for the No. 1 Prospect in Baseball?
After his record-breaking 2023 season in Biloxi, Chourio moved up to Triple-A late in the year and made his MLB debut in 2024. The obvious question is whether Made follows the same road.
The short answer: nothing official yet. The Shuckers are in the stretch run and could make the playoffs, which complicates any roster move before October. Milwaukee hasn’t announced a promotion.
Made signed with the Brewers in January 2024 out of the Dominican Republic for $950,000. He raced through three levels in 2025 — Single-A, High-A and Double-A — and opened 2026 in Biloxi from day one. At 19, the organization isn’t in a rush. But with numbers like these, the clock is starting to tick.
