On November 15, Miguel Rojas will step onto a baseball diamond for the last time as an active player. Not in Caracas, not in any Venezuelan ballpark — but at loanDepot Park in Miami, wearing a Tiburones de La Guaira uniform in the Choque de Gigantes, the LVBP tournament co-organized by the Marlins. The man who closed out 13 MLB seasons with a 15.3 career WAR is saying goodbye to Venezuelan baseball on the same field where he built most of his career.
A Full-Circle Ending
The Marlins announced it on October 26 via their official X account — a short post, a Venezuelan flag, and a simple farewell tone: «One last stop for Miggy Ro.» That one line carries years of history behind it. Rojas spent eight of his 13 MLB seasons in Miami (2015–2022), and loanDepot Park was home for all of it. His sendoff happening there — rather than at Estadio Universitario in Caracas — is no accident. Rojas had already said his farewell wouldn’t be in Venezuela, and the Choque de Gigantes gave him exactly the stage he was looking for.
The event runs on two dates: Saturday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. ET and Sunday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Tiburones de La Guaira — the 2024 Caribbean Series champions — will face Navegantes del Magallanes, the 2025 Choque de Gigantes champions. Both games count as official games on the 2026–27 LVBP calendar. This is not an exhibition.
The Numbers Behind Miggy Ro’s Career
Rojas officially retired from MLB on October 15, hours after the Dodgers were eliminated by Milwaukee in Game 4 of the NLCS. He finished with:
- .260 career AVG
- 61 home runs
- 386 RBI
- 1,401 games played across 13 seasons
- 15.3 career WAR — roughly 15 wins above what a replacement-level player would have provided over the same stretch
His final two seasons in Los Angeles brought back-to-back World Series titles (2024 and 2025). The defining moment came in Game 7 of the 2025 Fall Classic: Rojas hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning against Toronto, becoming the first player ever to do that in a Game 7. In his last MLB season (2026), he hit .271 with a .704 OPS in 97 games.
Starting in 2027, Rojas moves into a player development role within the Dodgers organization — a position that was already built into his one-year, $5.5 million contract for the 2026 season.
More Than a Farewell
The 2026 Choque de Gigantes carries an extra layer of meaning. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) and the We Love Venezuela Foundation to assist those affected by the earthquakes that struck Venezuela.
The special tribute to Rojas’s career is scheduled for Sunday the 15th, before the game. On Saturday the 14th, a postgame concert by Venezuelan salsa group Los Adolescentes is included with every ticket.
For the Tiburones fans who’ve been following the team from South Florida — and there are plenty of them — this is the only chance to see Miggy Ro on the field in the uniform of the team that shaped him, inside the stadium where they watched him grow. That doesn’t come around twice.
