Background
Paredes grew up in Valera, Venezuela — a country with one of the deepest baseball traditions in the world. He signed with the Angels organization and worked his way through their minor league system before getting his shot at the highest level. His MLB debut on June 23, 2017, was a milestone, and in that first season he threw 22.1 innings with a 4.43 ERA, striking out 17 batters.
MLB Career
Paredes returned to the Angels in 2018 but struggled with command, posting a 6.87 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP over 18.1 innings with 15 strikeouts. Those numbers reflect the growing pains many pitchers face when trying to stick in the majors.
