Series Standings
- Chicago White Sox: 1-0 (leads series)
- Cleveland Guardians: 0-1
Starting Pitchers
- Chicago – Anthony Kay (LHP): 10-9, 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 129 strikeouts in 158.0 innings
- Cleveland – Gavin Williams (RHP): 14-8, 3.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 248 strikeouts in 184.1 innings
What to Watch
The Guardians have their backs against the wall early. Falling behind 2-0 in a best-of-five would mean heading to Chicago in a deep hole. Cleveland’s best answer is Gavin Williams, and the numbers back him up — a 3.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 248 strikeouts in 184.1 innings make him the best arm on the mound today by a clear margin over Kay’s 4.44 ERA. If Cleveland is going to even this series, Williams needs to deliver at home.
